Football Season Guide

After an extremely disappointing season that saw Jose Maurinho forced to leave, Chelsea used this summer to regroup and under the guidance of their new and extremely inspirational coach Antonio Conte they are preparing to achieve big things in the new season. Conte is a famous workaholic that always demands 100% from his players and as he is blessed to work with a big group of extremely talented players Chelsea are tipped to be amongst the title favourites again. After all the Blues won the Premiership just two seasons ago and also they are the English team that won the last three European trophies for the country. Conte’s two big signings so far are that of striker Batshuayi and holding midfielder Kante. The former is expected to provide competition for the unpredictable Diego Costa for a starting place and in the pre-season Batshuayi formed an impressive partnership with his countryman Hazard. The latter had an awful previous campaign but he looks to be rediscovering his previous form this summer and Chelsea are expecting big things from him. If Lukaku also re-joins the team, the negotiations are at an advanced stage at the start of August, this will make three very talented Belgians up front and Costa might be squeezed out of the starting XI. So far no major name departed the club, excluding several players that were out on loan last season, but everyone feels threatened as Conte is known for shaking hard every tree he touches. The Italian manager won’t care about names and reputation and for him it is all about how much effort one puts in on the training ground. For that reason Kante’s arrival is expected to make him manager-favourite as the hard-working Frenchman was leader in the successful tackles and interception stats last year. Chelsea have an extremely large squad and lots of talent at their disposal, but the big advantage they will have over all other title-contenders is the fact that the Blues are not playing in Europe this year and their only focus will be on the domestic stage. Winning the title will be great, but even if they don’t achieve that at least one trophy, the two domestic Cup competitions will be taken seriously, is expected to be secured.
