Augsburg were excellent last season and they more than earned their promotion to the top flight. They are participating at this level for the first time in their history and they are sure to be relishing the challenge of what is to come. It is all but certain they are in for a long struggle against relegation but should they make a good start they will feel capable of surviving in the division for at least a season. Jentzsch is a solid, though not brilliant, presence in goals while the defence is going to be given a much sterner test than it received last term. Few players here have any real experience of the First Division and the midfield is in a similar situation. Up front Kapllani, Rafael and Thurk have all played here before, with varying degrees of success, but with new signings in almost every area being a bit of a gamble, it is hard to know just how this campaign will turn out. The manager is a cunning strategist who will surely make the best of what he can but Augsburg will have to perform to their very best, week in week out, if they are to have a chance of staying up.

Target

Simply surviving in the division this season would be a massive achievement for Augsburg.
