Inverness endured a tough time last season with managerial problems and missed out on the play-offs. John Robertson left his managerial post with the intention of returning but instead has stepped up to Director of Football. Neil McCann took interim charge with some success but ultimately failed to reach the top 4. Billy Dodds has now taken the role as manager. Inverness have lost some attacking power with Nikolay Todorov heading to Dunfermline and Danny MacKay to Hibs. Injury-prone James Keatings has moved to Raith Rovers. Defensive stalwart Brad McKay is now at Falkirk with experienced defender Kevin McHattie also departing. Classy midfielder Scott Allan has returned to Hibs after his loan spell. Making short moves across the Highlands are forwards Billy Mackay and Michael Gardyne from Ross County. Both provide quality but are well into their 30s. Another striker, Manny Duku, has also joined after impressing in spells at Raith Rovers. Defender Kirk Broadfoot signs from Kilmarnock aged 36 and brings a wealth of experience. New manager Billy Dodds has always been an assistant and never the main man. He has had plenty of advice to pass on as a media pundit over the years too. Now it is his chance to make a splash. If Billy McKay is not in scoring form, then Inverness could be in for a long and difficult season.

Target

With no obvious favourite in the Championship this season a top 4 finish and a shot at the play-offs is always possible. However, a title challenge is unlikely, and they may settle for a quiet season of consolidation.
