Stadium | The Allianz Arena was built in time for the 2006 World Cup and was opened the year before. For several years, it played host to the matches of both Bayern Munich and 1860 Munich, but since 2017 it has been used by Bayern Munich only and this has allowed the club to make it feel more like home by permanently adding their colours and their character to the seats and stands and walls. With a capacity of 75,000, it is the second-largest stadium in the Bundesliga. Only Borussia Dortmund’s is larger. The stadium’s design is quite simple as it is a bowl-shape made up of three main tiers. With Bayern Munich being one of the most popular sides in all of world football, it is almost always full. |
Recent History | Bayern Munich are the most successful team in the history of German football. They have more European Cups, more Bundesliga titles, more DFB-Pokal successes and more German Super Cups than any other club. In recent times, they have completely dominated the domestic league. After failing to win it in 2010/11 or 2011/12, they won a treble in 2012/13 and have then won the league every season since. With a mix of the top German internationals, young players from the academy and select players from other nations, Bayern Munich have a winning formula that keeps on producing. |
