Mouscron start another season that is expected to be characterised by a lot of changes in the playing squad and very little stability and coherence. The club is acting as a shopping window for lots of young players from all over Europe that arrive on loan in order to showcase their talents and then leave. And that has brought limited success to the club on the playing pitch over the past year. Still, Mouscron had just about managed to survive last year after a few dramatic wins very late in the last season. They are not aiming much higher this season and Glen de Boeck knows well that he will need to build a squad on the hoop and will struggle to find good understanding some time into the campaign. A lot of integral players from the squad have left as Teddy Mezague, Tristan Dingome, François Marquet and Elimane Coulibaly are all nowhere to be seen this season. On the other hand, the signings so far have been quite limited and of little experience and quality. Jérémy Huyghebaert is the one known name to the fans as he returns for another spell at the club after a couple of years in the division below with White Star Brussels. He is a capable left-back but not much more and will not really fit the level of the squad. As it is, manager De Boeck will rely on a core of Noe Dussenne at the back and David Hubert and Julien Michel in midfield, and hope that talents like Fabric Olinga, Christian Manea and Valentin Viola have bigger impact compared to last season. But as a whole it is hard to be optimistic about Mouscron at all and they are set for more plodding at the bottom end of the table in the coming season.
