Thun have earned themselves a reputation of being an extremely well-run club, having spent only one season outside the top flight in a decade-and-a-half despite their limited funds. Their club philosophy was summed up midway through the second half of the previous season, when they categorically rejected all suggestions that Marc Schneider could be fired despite looking likely to go down at the moment. The Oberlanders eventually managed to get their act together and finished eight, well clear of bottom Lausanne. They suffered a blow midway through the previous season, when they lost Simone Rapp, who was the league's top scorer when leaving. They lost another important player this summer in Sandro Lauper, who has joined their regional rivals Young Boys. On the bright side, all of the other players that left were fringe ones at best. The Oberlanders seldom bring in players from other Super League sides and there is little surprise that they once again bought from the second tier, as all three men who joined so far arrive from Challenge League sides and have absolutely no top flight experience. While losing Lauper is definitely a blow, Thun are pretty much used to losing key performers. However, what is a real worry is that their performances in the second half of the previous season suggest that they are yet to really adjust to life without Rapp, as they are still searching for a consistent source of goals.

Target

As always, Thun are aiming to stay away from danger with outside hopes of a European finish. The bad news for them is that no teams in the league look particularly poor this time around and they could well find themselves drawn into the battle against the drop.
