Liverpool had a fantastic season last time around. The Reds had targeted a top four finish and in truth many believed that would be beyond them. In the end they finished an incredible second in the table and were in the race for the title right up until the second last round of games. Brendan Rodgers side matured and gelled at a very quick pace and the question now is whether they perhaps over achieved somewhat. Ahead of the new season there have been plenty of comings and goings. Luis Suarez has obviously left to join Barcelona and as yet the club have not really replaced him. Seeing as he scored and created so many goals last season, that must be a little bit of a worry. Three players have joined from Southampton, Adam Lallana, Rickie Lambert and Dejan Lovren. Lallana will hopefully be a creative force once he is fully recovered from a knock, while the hope is that Lovren will add some steel and composure to the heart of the defence - something that was missing all too often last season.

Target

This season will be a big test for Liverpool. Expectations are now very high. Rodgers needs to deliver further improvement. The title is not beyond them, but the main aim will be to be in contention as long as possible and ensure another top four finish.
