Football Season Review

Champions: Chelsea

Chelsea were worthy champions this season. The Blues led the Premier League for almost the entire season and were a class above the rest on a regular basis. Jose Mourinho's men were declared champions with three games to spare. Their form up until January was sensational in the attacking sense - scoring goals, tearing teams apart, and winning plaudits from everyone for their expansive style of play. At the half way stage they were three points clear at the top of the table. From January onwards Mourinho's men adopted a far more pragmatic approach and were a lot more cautious. They were not scoring as many goals, but defensively they were extremely tough to break down. Mourinho's two main additions to the squad prior to the start of the season, Cesc Fabregas and Diego Costa, both had super first seasons. John Terry had one of the most impressive seasons of his career at centre back, while Eden Hazard was once again the standout performer.
