Just one year ago, Bologna were in the middle of a huge financial and managerial crisis. The club was very close to failing and it kept passing from the hands of a saviour to another's. But these ones all seemed to be more interested in pocketing some money rather than saving the club. However, Malesani and his boys, a group of players on loan from all over Italy, succeeded reaching safety despite a 3-point deduction and all the troubles occurred, including an unstoppable fall in the final weeks of the campaign. For the new season, there has been a complete revolution: Malesani was let go together with most of the loaned players and a bunch of others whose contracts were not renewed. Thus, Bisoli, whose experience in Serie A at Cagliari was extremely negative, has stepped in charge of the team and several new players have arrived as well. If Viviano's return to Milan, Inter side, could have been a major loss for Bologna, indeed the arrival of Gillet from Bari should represent the perfect replacement in goals. The attack too has been strengthened thanks to the signing of Acquafresca and Diamanti. It has to be seen if these two are in-form, though. Their last seasons were characterized more by shadows than by lights. And one wonders if Di Vaio is going to repeat the wonders shown in the last three years (55 goals scored since he joined the Rossoblu). Defensively, the feeling is that Britos and Moras were not properly replaced yet. In the midfield, Ekdal's departure (such as Ramirez's if it occurred) could be another major loss but Pulzetti and Krhin, as long as he is no longer plagued by injuries and he manages taking some responsibilities on himself, might take his place successfully.

Target

Bologna will be aiming at a quiet safety but a lot will depend on the new arrivals, and how they will all blend together, and on the coach, whose skills in Serie A are all to be proved. They do not seem likely to go anywhere out of the wrong half of the table.
