Only two seasons ago, Lazio were struggling to avoid the shame of relegation. The squad was formed by too many players, who seldom ever played, and a big confusion reigned all over. The arrival of coach Reja, if anything, gave the team a soul and some organization. Then, in the past season, Hernanes arrived and he brought in that quality that had been lacking for too long. This way, Lazio found themselves in the top four for most of the year. Unfortunately for them, though, they were not strong enough to obtain a place in the Champions League and had to be happy with a qualification to the Europa League. After a serious analysis of what had gone wrong, during the current transfer season, Reja opted for the arrival of several quality players in all the sides of the field. In particular, though, in the attack. So, above all, Klose and Cisse signed in. The German and the French international are experienced players but are also the right men to give Lazio the quality, and the quantity in terms of goals, that could lead to a quaity leap. Of course, the arrival of the two forwards means that there is no more room for Zarate, an idol that lasted too shortly by the Tiber. A great improvement should also be represented by the arrival of Marchetti, who is going to take Muslera's place in goals. The back four will see Dias and Biava as the centre-backs while Radu and newly-arrived Konko will be the full-backs. Brocchi, Ledesma, Matuzalem and Cana will rotate in the wall in front of the defence while Mauri, Hernanes and Cisse should support the lone striker Klose in a 4-2-3-1 system. Several valid alternatives were also signed in so that Reja should not be in trouble in case the regulars injured themselves or got suspended. That is, for the first time, he can rely in a complete squad.

Target

Lazio hope they have reduced the gap from the top four and from a place in the Champions League. A lot will depend on the concurrency, who strengthened itself too. In any case, a place in the European competitions should be assured.
