Cadiz were the first team to win promotion into LaLiga last season, even if they ultimately only finished second in the second tier. Their promotion was secured back on July 12th, so they’ve had plenty of time to prepare for this upcoming campaign. They’ve made a few smart acquisitions during the off-season, but most of their transfer activity was focussed on tying the members of last season’s squad who were on loan deals down to permanent deals. They’ve done a good job of this. With the squad largely remaining the same, Cadiz will feel confident that they can keep the show on the road. The fact that their coach Alvaro Cervera has been at the club since 2016 also plays into this comfortable continuity. When looking at this Cadiz team, their main strength is their defence, even though they often changed up their back four last campaign. Their weakness last term was in attack, as they only netted the division’s eighth most goals on their way to promotion, but the signing of the veteran Álvaro Negredo should help with that.

Target

Avoiding relegation. As is the case for all promoted sides, staying up is the only and ultimate goal.
