The 2019/20 season could hardly have gone any better. Even though they were a newly promoted side, they finished seventh to qualify for the Europa League and they reached the semi-finals of the Copa del Rey. This made coach Diego Martinez an in-demand coach, but Granada have been able to hold on to him and that is the most important piece of news of their summer. They’ve also done well in the transfer market, signing a few interesting pieces and only really losing one important player, as Carlos Fernandez’s loan ended. Granada now face the challenge of maintaining last season’s form at the same time as competing midweek in the Europa League. That could be quite an ask. They’ve shown that they’re a capable team, very solid at the back and able to take their chances at the other end. The only real weakness they seem to have is that potential lack of depth to compete in multiple tournaments. They have several older players, who may not be able to play every three to four days.

Target

Mid-table finish. Granada did well to finish in the European spots last season, but their target for this year should simply be to consolidate last season’s work and to establish themselves as a LaLiga side.
