DC United were perhaps the worst performers in the whole of Major League Soccer last season, finishing the year rock bottom of the Eastern Conference table, with just 32 points from 34 games. Finding the back of the net just 31 times, United offered no real threat going forward, with the club struggling to find a consistent striker to lead the line. Ben Olsen was very lucky to keep his job after such a dismal display, with the pressure very much on his shoulders this campaign. While United’s season was for the most part painful to watch, they did improve somewhat after the summer signings of Russell Canouse, Paul Arriola, and Bruno Miranda. It will be interesting to see how these 3 perform having now had a little time to adjust to their surroundings. In addition to these 3 names, DC fans will also be excited to watch the selection of new players brought in over pre-season. Darren Mattocks makes the switch from the Portland Timbers and will hopefully be able to add a bit of pace to United’s attack. Frederic Brilliant meanwhile comes in from New York City FC, perhaps adding some solidity to DC’s defence. The biggest coup for DC however, comes in the signing of Yamil Asad. Asad had a wonderful debut season on loan for Atlanta United in 2017, scoring 7 goals and registering 13 assists. He could potentially be the creative spark that DC have been missing, with a partnership between him and fellow Argentine, Luciano Acosta, a mouth-watering prospect.

Target

Will hope to challenge for the bottom end of the playoffs, although will face a tough challenge.
