Thun are coming from an up and down season which saw them struggle initially, but moved well clear of danger after being taken over by Jeff Saibene. The Oberlanders even looked like European candidates for a while, but eventually dropped off and were happy to finish inside the midtable places. Their financial constraints have been well known for years, and it is hardly a surprise that they have once again lost some of their top talent during the summer, with the most notable players to leave being Roman Buess, Ridge Munsy, Sandro Wieser and Andreas Wittwer. As usual, the Oberlanders have not signed like-for-like replacements for players that have left - the only out of their four new players with Super League experience is Matteo Tosetti, and the winger has hardly set the league alight with his form at Lugano last time around. Thun are known as a side that, most of the time, manages to find a way to stay clear of trouble despite all of their limitations, and one thing that they have going for them is that Saibene is an experienced manager who is widely seen as one of the best bosses in the league. He also has a footballing philosophy that is similar to the one that Thun have as a club, but the fact of the matter is that good coaching and organization can only take you so far, and the early signs certainly seem to be worrying for the Thuner, both due to the number and the quality of the players that they have lost.

Target

They usually start their campaigns with outside European hopes but, given the talent that they have lost this time around, they will be happy to simply stay clear of trouble.
