The last one was another season with lots of disappointments for Fenerbahce as they finished on the 7th spot, 16 points away from the top of the league. They offered satisfactory performances at home, but they were one of the worst away performers. In particular, they were so poor between February and March: a 7-game winless run kept them away from the title race. The board eventually made a coach change, but it was too late. They struggled at the back and recorded only 5 clean sheets. Ahead of the new season, the arrival of coach Erol Bulut, who is a former club player, brought a great excitement to the fans who have not seen any league title since 2013/14. However, they are also worried about possible authority problems as Emre Belozoglu retired and started to work as sportive director. It is known that he has a big impact over the team. So far, the duo have done a good job and brought many important players in. Since there are serious offers for Muriqi, they have already replaced him with Thiam. Trabzon duo Novak and Sosa will be making it straight to the starting eleven. Sinan Gumus is also expected to give a great support as right winger. The arrivals of Gokhan and Caner from Besiktas made the biggest impact: during the derbies, they were booed and everybody wonders how the team will react. Fenerbahce are still not reliable in the heart of the defence as they need to sign a good centre-back soon. The club president has taken big financial risks in order to win the title this time around. At this point, it is a big advantage not to compete in Europe.
