Gil had a surprising good season, last year. Arriving at top flight after a law suit, directly from 3rd division, one could have thought 'Galos' wouldn't be equipped for the challenge, but they sure were and were one of the good surprises of the first half of the season. However, it may have well been a fluke for Gilistas, as this new season isn't expected to be as good. The best players are gone and the players coming in are yet to prove they can be at the same level. Rúben Ribeiro, B. Kraev and Sandro Lima were among the best players of the entire league, last season, and they will be very hard to replace. Plus, there was also the departure of influential Willian Soares as well and Fonseca, Pinto, Baraye, Arthur Henrique and Zakaria. Also, the charismatic Vítor Oliveira is no longer in charge. The relatively unknown Rui Almeida will have his first chance in his home league after a career made mostly in France. Lucas Mineiro and Mantuan are safe bets for the centre of midfield, while Leandrinho will try to replace Kraev as the team's playmaker. It remains unclear who will be Lima's replacement in attack. Defence is the least of the problems, as the most important players were kept, while the reliable Talocha was brought in. Denis was an important piece last season, in goal but he'll have tight competition with the arrival of Daniel Fuzato, eager for minutes, on loan from AS Roma.
