There's no doubt that 2015/2016 was a tough season for Martin Canning's side with constant speculation that the manager would lose his job as his side hovered around the relegation zone for much of the season. They eventually secured their Premiership place in the final few games but their appalling home record which saw them take just a single victory after September certainly didn't bring them any admirers, even amongst their own fans. This season can be expected to be even tougher as usually the promoted side can be expected to struggle for survival but it's unlikely this will happen in the case of Rangers so one of the more established teams in the league will be expected to go down, with Hamilton probably the favourite. They haven't been helped by the loss of star goalkeeper Michael McGovern who earned a move to Norwich on the back of some terrific performances in Euro 2016 and long serving defender Ziggy Gordon who has moved to Premiership rivals Partick. On the plus side they have managed to keep a hold of their key midfielder Ali Crawford for now, probably helped by his poor form at the tail end of last year so they'll need him to improve this year. Surprise signing of the summer probably goes to their capture of veteran ex Celtic and Milan midfielder Massimo Donati who'll certainly add some experience to their midfield.

Target

Survival. It's as simple as that for the Accies fans who know they'll be up against it with few signings made and the team looking thinner than ever.
