The past season represented a real turning point for Inter’s glorious and controversial history. In fact, after almost 20 years characterized by amazing disasters and extraordinary triumphs, President Moratti decided to sell the club to an Indonesian entrepreneur, Thohir. At the very same time, a process of rejuvenation of the squad started taking place, caused by the arrival of coach Mazzarri at the helm of the team. To tell the truth, the past campaign was far from a successful one: Inter succeeded achieving a qualification to the Europa League just because of their contenders’ poorness. More will be expected in this new season, especially since the coach was confirmed without any hesitation. During the summer, most of the heroes of the treble won with Mourinho in charge ended up leaving. Zanetti retired after a twenty-year-long career with the club, while Cambiasso, Samuel and Milito went elsewhere looking for their last contracts. Mazzarri should stick to the usual 3-5-2 or 3-5-1-1 formation with Handanovic confirmed in goals. Vidic, having left Manchester United, will become the leader of the back three alongside Juan Jesus and Ranocchia. In the midfield, Dodo from Roma or Nagatomo should act on the left flank with Jonathan on the right while Hernanes will be joined up by the newcomers M’Vila, arrived from Rubin Kazan, and Medel from Cardiff, who impressed a lot during the World Cup in Brazil. With Kovavic and Krhin, back from the loan to Bologna, as valid alternatives. In the attack, Osvaldo, who failed to be confirmed by Juventus, should represent an alternative to Icardi alongside Palacio.

Target

Inter should always be fighting for the Scudetto but they will not be able to do it this time around. The squad is still slightly incomplete both in defense and in the attack, especially considering that they are also expected by a tiring European campaign. Provided they qualify to the Group stage.
