Last year Lucien Favre and his Gladbach side simply could not find the right balance between league and European competition and they just fell short of the top six and a place in the Europa League for this season. This means they have a bit of transition season with a few new faces coming in including Max Kruse who will be a fantastic addition to their forward line while Raffael should provide some more creativity in the midfield which they sorely lacked at the end of last year. Christoph Kramer and Joel Mero are also added to the team but should probably only take a more minor role as they are still developing. Unlike last year there have not been any really high profile players leaving though Tolga Cicergi looked bright when he played at the end of last season, Mike Hanke and Igor de Camargo also move on having been told early last year that they would be leaving. Otherwise a number of a squad players have departed but what is left is a solid team who should be aiming for a top six finish this year and therefore get back into European football.

Target

A place in the Europa League through league position will be their aim this year.
