Promotion at the first attempt was expected of a team that many thought were too good to go down in the first place. They won the second Bundesliha comfortably in the end and the top team from Germany's capital are back in the big time. They will have to be wary this season to make sure they stay in the league but the squad has changed hugely since they went down two years ago. Hertha brought in players with more experience of German football but a number of players such as Ronny can still be unpredictable and there are question marks over the consistency of main attacking threat Adrian Ramos. In the close season they have added a couple more defensive options in van den Bergh and Langkamp who both have Bundesliga experience while Alexander Baumjohann was a very solid player for Kaiserslautern last year and he will be looking forward to playing again in the top league. They have sold a couple of squad players while Alfredo Morale's departure was something of a surprise but they have the base of a squad which could hold a mid table position if they can establish themselves in the league. The Hertha board have been known to take quick decisions if results do not go their way early on but if they play as they did last year they have a chance to stay up.

Target

Staying in the Bundesliga will be the aim for Hertha this year to prevent them being a yo-yo club.
