Hoffenheim had a dreadful season last year, three separate managers and a playoff duel to survive in the league shows why they have to do better this year. They have started by cutting down on their huge squad with a number of fringe players leaving as well as some of the players the manager feels cause trouble in the team. Alongside the clearout they have brought in a few extra players including striker Anthony Modeste from Bastia with Edson Braafheid making a return from loan and both should prove their worth for the team this year. Otherwise the manager is relying on the squad that saved themselves from relegation through the playoff so much more is expected from each player to prevent that from happening again, they will want to survive through their league position alone. It will probably be another tough season for them but they are on the right path to a more solid team.

Target

Securing their Bundesliga status through league position.
