Galways have been a club on the up over the last few years, having improved on their position in the league ladder in each of the previous three seasons. The previous campaign saw them finish ninth, fifteen points clear of the relegation places, but the club hierarchy is obviously aiming for more, as they decided to part ways with Tommy Dunne near the end of the previous season. They took their time naming a successor before appointing Shane Keegan, who joins from Wexford Youths, in November. Keegan has sounded very enthusiastic about his new club during all the interviews he has given so far, praising both the infrastructure and the ambition of the board. Unlikely many other bottom half sides, Galway were able to keep hold of all of their players apart from Armin Aganovic, with the defender returning to Scandinavia to play for Raufoss. Keegan has brought defender Lee Grace with him from his former club, while the other new signings have top flight experience and add proven quality to the squad. To sum things up, Galway have a new enthusiastic manager and a touch stronger squad that they had last season and will be optimistic going into the new campaign.

Target

Their goal will be to continue improving and better their last season's finish, but this will not be easy, as several other sides have also improved, while newly-promoted Limerick look very strong. They should have it in them to avoid the drop, but it remains to be seen if this would please their board.
