Football Season Guide

Servette have had an excellent season of return to the top flight, but their form was not as good post the pandemic break as it was earlier in the season. The Genevans have seen numerous players leave the club over the summer. The likes of Sebastien Wuthrich and Jung-bin Park were among their best performers, but it was known for a while that they would be leaving, with the former not playing after the pandemic break and the latter not playing at all in 2020 after declining to sign a new contract. The other players who left were rotation options, but the problem is that they have left without really been replaced. Only two summer signings were made in Arial Mendy and Moussa Diallo, while the Genevans were otherwise looking to fill their squad by promoting players from their reserve side. There were several occasions during the previous season when Servette were unable to fill the bench due to having five or six players injured. Their senior squad was therefore not that big to start with and this issue will be even greater this time around. All in all, while still having a solid starting eleven, Servette enter the new season with no real momentum and huge worries on how they will cope with the demanding schedule.
