Sirius didn’t overachieve in 2019, but managed to stay out of trouble pretty much all campaign and without too much bother deserved 11th spot in the final standings. Having the best scoring record amongst the bottom 7 sides proved decisive for the relative comfort. Plenty of changes happened in the off season! Not only 5 supporting filed players left squad, but also the main left-back Jesper Arvidsson and the 2 key stars of the team. Top scorer for Sirius both in 2018 and 2019 Philip Haglund moved on, while the main centre-back Ahman-Persson sustained season-ending injury just this May and as result decided to end his career. To address the big hole in attack coach Rydstrom signed Sugita and Igboananike, with both of them expected to see lots of playing time. Hopes are that they will be effective enough to fill the void left by Haglund’s departure. None of the other new signings expected to be amongst the regulars, but fit-again Jarl is seen as the new leader of the back line. Captain Busch Thor to have equally important role in the heart of the midfield. Sirius have shown great unity and team spirit in recent years, with this being their main strength. The main weaknesses are the lack of depth, when forced to rotate will have to use mainly youngsters, and the unknowns surrounding the efficiency of the attack after Haglund’s departure.

Target

Sirius only want to avoid relegation, but even if they succeed the season is likely to be difficult and finish in the bottom 6 positions seems most logical.
