St.Pauli struggled in the last campaign but did enough to stay out of any serious relegation bother. They were awful on the road, only winning once and, while injuries did play a part, the team was tinkered with far too often by boss Jos Luhukay. Luhukay was moved on at the end of last season and replaced by U19's coach Timo Schultz. It has been seen as a gamble by some but the club have high hopes for Schultz. Schultz has been busy in the summer, bringing in some new faces, while having a clear-out to trim down the squad. Strikers Diamantakos and Veerman have both been sold despite having relatively good seasons last year. Daniel Kofi Kyereh and Simon Makienok are both hoping to seize their opportunity as their replacements. Another area where St.Pauli have strengthened is in midfield where they will look to be dominant. Exciting young attacking midfielder Lukas Daschner has arrived from Duisburg, along with other youngster Rodrigo Zalazar on loan from Eintracht Frankfurt. Maximillian Dittgen is another coup on the left-side of midfield. St.Pauli will be a relatively new look side this coming season but home form again is likely to be a strength. They will also look to play on the counter-attack with plenty of pace in attacking areas. A worry could be defensively where they haven’t recruited too much, although Leart Paqrada from Sandhausen is a good addition at left-back.

Target

Top half- It's difficult to predict how St.Pauli will do but with a new manager and plenty of new faces, but an improvement on last season is likely.
