It was a successful season for Wurzburger as they gained promotion to Liga 2 for the second time in three seasons. It was a terrific achievement for the Rothosen, considering they lost 6 of their first 10 matches. Coach Michael Schiele eventually turned things around and they won 11 of their final 17 matches to finish runner-up. There has been a lot of movement both in and out during the summer as Wurzburger look to build for life in the second-tier. Schiele has recognised the need for improvement on the left with Robert Herrmann from Erzgebirge brought in on the left side of midfield and left-back Arne Feick from Heidenheim, both will bring experience needed at this level. Schiele has lost a few of his regulars from last season, most notably Fabio Kaufmann who scored 14 goals and provided 14 assists in a standout campaign, the arrivals of Keanu Staude and David Kopacz will help ease the burden of that loss. Wurzburger have kept hold of top scorer from last season Luca Pfeiffer which will be a bonus. Scoring goals came easy to Wurzburger last campaign with 71 scored overall, this year will be different with the quality of opposition vastly improved. Schiele will need to change his philosophy slightly this year otherwise they could suffer defensively, they conceded 60 goals last season and that is a big worry.

Target

Survival is the main goal for Wurzburger and they will need to be ready for the fight, they do have some quality in their ranks to cause teams problems but could struggle with the step up in class.
