It will be very interesting to see how Bristol City perform this time around after a summer of transfer activity in terms of both incomings and outgoings. Lee Johnson's side were very impressive especially in the first half of last season where they reached the League Cup semi-finals. Not surprisingly they fell away a bit late on but that can be put down partly to the number of the games they had played rather than their standards. This summer they have suffered significant blows with the departures of Aden Flint and Bobby Reid. Flint has been the mainstay of their defence and leaves a big hole while Reid is an outstanding young player, scoring 19 goals last term. Both will be missed dearly. But Johnson has been astute in his signings. Jack Hunt and Adam Webster are both established Championship defenders while Andi Weimann and Marley Watkins offer quality in attack. Hakeeb Adelakun should also be a good addition to their midfield following his arrival at Scunthorpe. Mo Eisa is another impressive addition from Cheltenham. You do sense that despite these additions, the departures of Flint and Reid will hit Bristol City hard. But Johnson has proved to be a decent manager at this level and will want his men to build on considerable improvement over the last couple of seasons.

Target

Play-offs will be the aim for Bristol City but new players may take their time to gel.
