In the past season, Fiorentina were certainly one of the main surprises of the whole Serie A, as they managed fighting for a place in the top 3 together with Milan until the very final week, displaying more than once the best football of the league. Considering that they had been struggling against relegation just a few months earlier, it undoubtedly was an impressive result. Coach Montella was the author of such a miracle and he was logically confirmed at the helm of the team. Moreover, through some wise signings, he should be given the chance to make a quantum leap in the new season. In fact, Fiorentina decided to let their key player, Jovetic, leave for Manchester City in order to strengthen the squad in all its departments. The money obtained from his sale was fundamental for the arrival of Gomez from Bayern and Ilicic from Palermo. In a 4-3-3 formation, the two could actually make the forward three together with Cuadrado, with Ljajic allowed to quit for the right offer. The experienced Ambrosini and Joaquin should provide some alternatives for the midfield together with Iakovenko, the returning-from-loan Vargas and the young Bakic. In goals, Munua arrived from Levante and should act as Neto’s substitute in case of need, while Viviano returned to Palermo. The defence was not altered as it was the most effective line. Toni, Migliaccio, Larrondo, Llama and Sissoko were all let go as, with the exception of the 2006 World Champion, they hardly ever managed to show their skills.

Target

If Montella manages to blend the new and the old players well, Fiorentina could end up fighting, with a big chance of obtaining it, for a place in the top 3 and even for the Scudetto.
