Even though the experience of the coach at the helm of the team was an extremely positive one since it led to an early safety, Corini was not confirmed by the management at the end of the season. Thus, Sannino, who is coming off a troublesome campaign with Palermo but had particularly impressed in occasion of his previous stint with Siena, will be the new man in charge. Unlike the previous transfer campaigns when some relevant players were regularly sold to the bigger clubs, this time around, no stars were actually let go despite some interesting offers received, and this was certainly the case of Thereau. As a matter of fact, several loans or contracts were not renewed and so players like Andreolli, Acerbi, Sampirisi, Ujkani, Seymour, Jokic and Cofie, to name a few, left. Also Luciano, a veteran of the Delneri age, when Chievo Verona first reached the Serie A, was let go. Such departures were matched by the arrival of a whole group of promising and, often, inexperienced youth. This is certainly not the case of Radovanovic and Sestu, who might gain a starting place in the midfield alongside Luca Rigoni and Hetemaj given their experience. Unlike Corini, coach Sannino is expected to adopt a 4-4-2 formation that requires a greater support to the forwards from the flanks of the midfield. At the moment, there seems to be a lack of players with such characteristics. The defence should remain unaltered with Sardo, Dainelli, Cesar and Drame acting in front of Puggioni. In the attack, Thereau and Paloschi should form the forward two with Pellissier ready to intervene when needed. Calello, Acosty and Improta should also gain some relevant playing time.

Target

Chievo Verona will have to struggle for their survival especially since the squad needs a few adjustments both defensively and in the midfield.
