Football Season Guide

After eleven long years spent between the Serie B and the Lega Pro, Hellas Verona triumphally succeeded returning to the Serie A thanks to a brilliant campaign with coach Mandorlini at the helm. The football they displayed in their successful season was a particularly offensive and spectacular one: they will have to try and repeat themselves now in the top flight but it will not be that easy. Mandorlini’s previous experiences in Serie A with Atalanta and Siena were both terminated well before Christmas with the teams at the bottom of the table: he is hoped to have learnt some lesson. The management succeeded confirming the backbone of the squad, in particular striker Cacia and the midfielders Halfredsson and Jorginho, and, at the very same time, they tried adding some experienced veterans, such as Toni, Jankovic and Donati, and potentially promising youths, such as Sala and Cirigliano. Mandorlini should confirm a 4-3-3 formation with Rafael in goals and the newly-arrived Mihaylov as his substitute. Cacciatore, Bianchetti, Gonzalez and Agostini should form the back four while Albertazzi is expected to gain some space along the season. In the midfield, Donati should join Halfredsson and Jorginho, with Cirigliano, Martinho, Sala and Jankovic all ready to step in. Gomez, Cacia and Sgrigna should form the forward three with Toni as the secret weapon to be used later in the games. Apparently, the squad is still a bit too light and inexperienced. Some investments should still be made on all the departments.
