New York Red Bulls went through one of their worst campaigns in recent times as they finished well behind the leaders in the Eastern Conference table, securing a sixth placed finish before bowing out in the first round of the playoffs. The new season is shaping up to be one of a transition for the Red Bulls who have lost three key players during the off-season. Bradley Wright-Phillips has been let go after a disappointing campaign last season but the bigger loss will be those of Luis Robles and Kemar Lawrence who have since moved on to Miami and Anderlecht respectively. Other departures include Michael Murillo and Conor Lade while there are question marks over Aaron Long's availability which means New York could be lining up with a completely different defense this season. New York have once again resisted the urge to go big in the transfer market and have instead relied on homegrown players. They have extended Josh Sims' loan while also bringing in Mandela Egbo and David Jensen from Europe. Coach Chris Armas though is happy to rely on Brian White to replace Wright-Phillips' goals and much of New York's prospects of challenging for the top spot depends on whether he will be able to build on a promising campaign last season.

Target

Should make it to the playoffs without any problems though more will be demanded out of Chris Armas' side following a disappointing campaign last season.
