What a comeback from Goztepe... They did a great job in their return to the Super League following 14 years and finished the last season in the 6th place. The fans believe that it is the success for the club president and coach Tamer Tuna. Ahead of the new season, the fans were very surprised by the club president’s decision as he could not come to an agreement with coach Tamer Tuna and the club parted company with him. In his stead, coach Bayram Bektas was appointed. He has worked in some 1st League teams, but it is going to be his 1st experience in the Super League as a head coach. Last season, they completed the league with -1 average. To concede many goals was its biggest reason despite Beto’s great efforts. In order to fix it, they have been very active during the summer transfer market. First of all, they brought Lamine Gassama from the league rivals Alanya in. He is a great arrival considering his support to the offence besides defending. Left-back Berkan Emir also arrived with him. He is expected to be a good backup to Adama Traore. Following some center-back departures, they were very short there. In order to join Kadu and Reis, Fausto Grillo was signed in from Velez Sarsfield. He has been far from 1st team football in general for the last two years. Besides that, it will be his first experience outside Argentina. So the fans have full of question marks about him for now. There were also interesting arrivals in the offence line. No doubt that the most interesting arrival is Yasin Oztekin from the title holders Galatasaray. He has proved his quality so far and the fans expect him to add a lot to the team. After Demba Ba left the team, Deniz Kadar was signed in from the league rivals Antalya. Besides him, Samed Kaya was added from a lower league team. Everybody is aware that the current offence line is not good enough for this level. That is why the board are still looking for a foreign killer.
