Got promoted to Série A thanks to a third place in Série B last season. It was a close call as they finished with just 3 points more than 5th placed CSA. Last time around top flight level was back in 2007, where they ended a good spell of 9 years at top level, having finished 18th with 41 points. Reached semi-finals of Gaúcho State Championship, but proved to be no match for the stronger Internacional, falling down with a 2-4 aggregate score. Juventude will be having an almost entirely new squad from the one that brought them to Série A last season, which usually isn't a good sign. Apart from a few players like goalkeeper Marcelo Carné, and veteran holding midfielder Jáo Paulo, very few relevant players from last season's successful promotion survived for next one. Even the youngster Marcos Vinicios, a product of club's youth system should be considered a new face, as he was with U23 team last season. The club preferred to bring some more experienced players that are not new to Série A requirements, but all of them have failed to impress in recent seasons in other clubs. An example is the case of Matheus Jesus, once a promising powerful midfielder at Corinthians turned to reserve midfielder in every club he was in in the last few years. Coach Marquinhos is a young coach that had already a short experience at Série A with Chapecoense in 2019. He seems to be an attacking minded, modern gaffer. Juventude had the second strongest attack in Série B, last season, with 52 goals.

Target

Will surely struggle to survive on their return to Série A after 14 years out.
