Finished 4th last season, and for some time were first with large difference to competition. This season finally got silverware by winning Paulista State Championship against rivals Palmeiras. A title that Tricolores have been chasing for 16 years. Tricolor had a strong transfer market for 2021, bringing two major new signings, and a couple of others that will bring the club to bigger achievements if they are at their best. The most important move was in dugout, though, as Hernan Crespo arrived surrounded by big expectations. Veteran Miranda will bring experience and order to the back-3 Crespo will implement. Creative Martin Benitez was one of the best players in Série A last season, with the relegated Vasco. Argentinean Rigoni is back to South America were he had a tremendous couple of seasons, but is arriving from Europe where he made no impact at all. 34-years old Italian international attacker Éder is a big name signing, but his fitness condition is a big question. Dani Alves will remain the spiritual leader of the team and the reference to the group. But it's more likely that the highlights will be more often on younger midfielders like Luan, Liziero, Gabriel Sara or Igor Gomes. Luciano is expected to keep is excellent goalscoring form of last season.

Target

Just a notch less favourite than Flamengo, Palmeiras or Atlético MG, but title candidates nonetheless.
