The 2015/16 season was absolutely horrible for Trabzon. In the league, they sometimes came close to the danger zone and could complete it with 40 points. This is the worst performance in the last decade. They could not do anything positive in the Turkish Cup and the Europa League. Especially, they were terrible on the road as they recorded one less defeat than the bottom side Mersin Idman Yurdu. After conceding thirteen goals in the last two fixtures of the season, the board decided to take serious actions in order to clean the humiliating memories. First of all, they came to an agreement with coach Ersun Yenal. It will be his third spell in the club. With his arrival, it could be said that they became the most active club in the transfer market. First of all, they have parted company with many members of the last season. Erkan Zengin, Marko Marin, Aykut Demir and Jose Bosingwa are notable departures. Along with two relegated teams, Trabzon were one of the most conceding three teams in the league. In order to improve their defensive stats, the coach brought experienced Durica in from the Russian Premier League. Luis Ibanez also arrived to cover the left-back. Oscar Cardozo did not spend a good season according to the authorities as he missed several fixtures because of injury. In order to have more offensive options, Sheydaev and Suk were added into the squad. In the midfield, the arrivals of young players Onazi and Bero will give good alternatives to the coach. There is no doubt that most of the creative responsibility will belong to Mehmet Ekici. Ozer, Yusuf, Guray, Sefa and the new arrival Castillo will try to help him in the offensive plans. Although Onur Kivrak has said that he wanted to leave on the final days of the last season, he remained and will compete with Alvarado on the net. In the friendly fixtures, they have offered very promising performances. So the fans are very hopeful for the coach and his mentality. Until the end of the summer transfer market, it would be great, if they could sign a right-back and an experienced defensive midfielder. It seems like Trabzon will do much better this season. Not to compete in the European Cups is an advantage for them.

Target


To finish in the top five places is their main goal. To win the Turkish Cup for the 9th time is also on their mind.
