After Caykur Rize offered an acceptable performance in the first part of the last season, they struggled a lot in the second part. Since they could record only three victories in 2016, they could have finished the season in a bad place. Of course, the heavy injury of Kweuke affected them too badly and they faced a big scoring problem. Although the club saw an un stoppable downtrend, the board decided to keep on working with the coach. Unfortunately, he faced a tendon injury and will not be able to give his best for a while. As expected, they were very active during the summer transfer market. Some regular players including Deniz, Koray, Eren and Viera left the team in the summer. Of course, the coach brought some replacements in but their qualities are already questioned because of their careers and friendly fixtures performances. Speaking about them, they have lost seven friendly fixtures against foreign teams. Two of the summer arrivals have already escaped because of the coup. In order to replace Deniz and Chevalier, young attackers Volkan and Ogulcan arrived. Considering that they failed to fill Kweuke’s place during his injury, to trust some young players is a big risk. Following Ertugrul and Viera’s departures, the Tunisian and Iraqi centre-backs were signed in but the fans are worried that they won’t be able to cope with the high level of the league. It seems like most of the creative responsibility will belong to Recep Niyaz who did a good job in Denizli. Besides him, the offensive wingers including Ahmet, Faisal, Oguz Han and Dzalamidze have to work hard. Especially, the new arrival is expected to do so considering Eren’s eight assists performance in the last season. At the right-back, the coach hopes that the summer arrival Fink will be able to replace Koray who has been also supporting the offence. There are many new players in the Black Sea region side. So it seems like they still need time to adapt to each other. Considering that they were unable to record any clean sheet in the friendly fixtures, the coach should concentrate on the defence line. No doubt that it is not going to be an easy season for them considering many things.
