Football Season Review

№3: Atlanta United

Despite they didn't achieve to make a back to back MLS cup win it was a successful season for Atlanta as they reached the Eastern Conference finals but they were stopped by Toronto leaving a bitter taste at the end. Atlanta faced a lot of difficulties this season as they had a new coach hired, they sold their key player Almiron in the off-season, they played the most games than any other franchise this season and they also face a lot of injury problems. Josef Martinez scored 28 goals this season contributing 45% of the goals of the team, being for sure the key player for Atlanta. United were trying to play a ball dominating style of play as they had more than 54% of ball possesion into their matches, pushing the opponent back and trying to make a lot of shots, 15 on average in every match. They also tried to play a lot in counter attack using their main attacking threat Josef Martinez. With Parkhurst retiring and Nagbe trading to Columbus, Atlanta is not expected to have a very noisy transfer summer. There's a core of key players that they will be better next season and United will try to reach again the MLS top.

Player of the Season: Josef Martinez
