Football Season Review

№11: Portland Timbers

A very strange season for the Timbers as they started their campaign by playing 12 straight matches on the road. And while everyone thought that they couldn't reach a playoff spot they surprisingly did 4 wins in their last 6 matches, despite the injuries they had and they ensured a playoff berth, without excelling in the postseason though. The Timbers were the most aggressive team in the league as they had 6 times a player being sent off and 75 times a player cutioned with a yellow card. Portland scored the most goals ın counter attack -7- than any other team in the league. Sebastian Blanco and Diego Valeri were performing very well for the Timbers but also Morreira as a right back had a very good season. There was an impasse though in negotiations with Valeri in his renewal issue that may be the critical issue heading to 2020 season. Valeri is the all time leading playe for the Timbers in goals and assists but this time it is not sure that he will continue playing for Portland. Brian Fernandez is already past for the team and the Timbers seems they are on a way to rebuild their team based on newcomers.

Player of the Season: Sebastian Blanco
