The Atletico Mineiro fans weren't satisfied with the results and the finishing position (9th) last season, which is quite an understatement. The Belo Horizonte outfit impressed Brazil back in 2015 by finishing second in the Serie A, but it all went downhill from there. The fourth spot in 2016 was still quite decent, but the 2017 campaign didn't show Atletico Mineiro's potential anymore as this side claimed the ninth spot after 38 matches. The club had to react to push for the comeback, which is what they did. Thiago Larghi will coach the team this year and he will have to book better results with this outfit, which isn't an easy task at all. Experienced players like former internationals Fred and Robinho left the club to play for Cruzeiro and Sivasspor, but the club managed to maintain the experience within the squad as players like Arouca and Ricardo Oliveira joined the team. It will be difficult now to push for a top five spot again like they did back in 2015 and 2016 as Atletico Mineiro didn't manage to add key names to their squad, but Thiago Larghi will be motivated to show his skills. The 37-year-old coach will make his debut in the Serie A.

Target

Atletico Mineiro recorded a mid-table finish for the first time in years and improving will be the main mission this season. This outfit should be able to push for a top six classification.
