Bahia sealed promotion to the Serie A in 2016, which immediately made them one of the underdogs at the start of the 2017 campaign. The Salvador side faced several bumps on the road last year and they even slipped into the relegation zone at one point, but it all went well towards the end of the season. Bahia managed to adjust to football at the highest level and they even climbed away from the danger zone, which resulted in the twelfth spot after 38 matches, a reasonable achievement. Edigar Junio's performances during the second half of the season gave Bahia the boost they were looking for as he bagged twelve goals throughout the year. The striker is still in Salvador at the moment and his presence in attack should be crucial again. It was a busy winter in Salvador regarding the transfers, and manager Guto Ferreira will have to build a new team as a result. New arrivals like Douglas Friedrich and Nino Paraiba are destined to become regulars in the starting line-up and they should be able to maintain the quality within the squad.

Target

Bahia produced a satisfactory 2017 campaign and repeating the result will be the mission this year. This outfit should be able to prevent any relegation problems.
