Fluminense finished thirteenth or fourteenth for three seasons in a row in the Serie A, which didn't satisfy the fans at all. Their sixth place finish in 2014 already seems much longer ago and the team from Rio de Janeiro will have to bounce back again to claim a top ten spot, and to do so, Fluminense will have to produce something special. By far the biggest disappointment for the fans is Henrique Dourado's departure. The key striker was one of the best attackers in the Serie A last season, and his presence and his eighteen goals definitely helped Fluminense. The striker left the club, however, as he joined Flamengo, one of their oldest rivals, during the winter break. This was extremely hard to take for the club and the fans and bouncing back will be an uphill task now. Replacing Dourado in attack is almost impossible and demanding a top ten finish from Abel Braga's men will be a bit unrealistic. Fluminense is one of the well-known names in the Serie A, but in recent years they have not shown their potential. They could be up for a mid-table season again.

Target

Pushing for a top ten spot will definitely be the ambition again, but this could be a tall order. The experienced Abel Braga will have to use all his skills to push Fluminense in the right direction again.
