After a good start to the 2020/21 season, Blackburn tailed off in 2021 which can be down to the amount of injuries suffered throughout the campaign. Blackburn have not brought in any new faces thus far over the summer, which will certainly worry supporters after losing the likes of Elliott, Evans, Holtby, and Bell in the off-season. This will leave holes to fill in a squad which does not have a lot of strength in depth. Adam Armstrong was without a doubt Blackburn's star player last season, and, with the striker heavily linked with a move away, this could create tension within the camp as Tony Mowbray's squad could do without losing their key man ahead of the Championship slog. With Blackburn left with a core of the same players, expect Tony Mowbray to set his side up in a similar attacking fluid 4-3-3 we saw for largely throughout the 2020/21 season. With the likes of Sam Gallagher and Tyrhys Dolan expected to play more of a main role this season. If there is one thing Tony Mowbray's Blackburn side are renowned for, it's scoring goals and producing an attacking threat. Expect more of the same this season, particularly if Armstrong continues to lead the line. Defence was an area in which Mowbray will want to have improved, but will need to make do with the same core of defenders he had at his disposal last season. Can the veteran manager change Rovers' defensive fortunes?

Target

Mid-Table. A lack of new signings, coupled with losing some important first team players over the off-season means Blackburn will likely settle for mid-table security in the upcoming season.
