Survival was the main aim for Coventry last season, in their first campaign back in the Championship, and it was achieved with two games to spare. They have lost several crucial performers from last season who have yet to be replaced. Important midfielder James, solid centre-back Ostigard and ever-present left wing-back McCallum have all returned to their parent clubs. The incomings so far have largely been solid but not significantly improving what they already had. Waghorn and Moore are experienced performers at Championship level. Sheaf and Gyokeres were on loan at Coventry last season, they didn’t really impress but are young players with the potential to improve. Enobakhare is a wildcard signing, he has the raw talent but has yet to prove himself at Championship level. At the moment, Coventry’s squad looks weaker than it was last season. The key to their season looks likely to be keeping their important players fit. Last season they were without main striker Matty Godden, important defender Michael Rose and captain Liam Kelly for much of the campaign (Kelly will likely miss the start of this season). While their two recognised right wing-backs were plagued throughout the season with injuries. Attacking midfielder O’Hare was outstanding last season with his energy and creativity and they will need more of the same from him. Manager Mark Robins has plenty of experience and knowhow.

Target

Survival will again be the aim. Another tough season battling against relegation looks on the cards.
