Nottingham Forest had a poor 2020/21 season. Experienced Championship manager Chris Hughton led the team for most of the campaign but the football was uninspiring and the results disappointing as they finished 17th. There has been somewhat of a clear out of the squad over the close season. Plenty of the players who played the most minutes last season were on loan so they have now left. The only addition so far is goalkeeper Horvath who is likely to be second choice behind Brice Samba. The Forest starting XI looks capable of competing well at this level but they do need to bolster their squad. Cover in all positions apart from in goal is required. One exciting addition to the squad from last season is Brennan Johnson. The young attacking midfielder was on-loan at Lincoln last season, where he made 38 league starts, scoring 12 goals and bagging 13 assists. Unsurprisingly, he has attracted interest from elsewhere over the summer. Scoring goals was a massive weakness last season, Forest only scored 37 times in the 46 league games. Main strikers Lewis Grabban and Lyle Taylor only managed 10 goals between them during the last campaign. Attacking reinforcements are a priority but none have yet been made. The squad is expected to be strengthened between now and August 31st.

Target

Competing for a play-off place will be the aim. A top six finish is asking a lot given their lack of signings so far and their poor campaign last season.
