Bolton secured an immediate return to the Championship with a good campaign last term, Phil Parkinson enhancing his reputation as one of the up and coming managers in English football. Parkinson has signed players who have been there and done that with Adam Armstrong, Stephen Darby, Will Buckley, Sammy Ameobi and Mark Little all arriving at the Macron Stadium. Expectations are unclear for Wanderers this term but it is clear they will need a far better offering than the one before last where they were relegated quite spectacularly. Parkinson has been experimenting with different formations over pre-season and it is clear that this is a big season for them. The off field situation has never been particularly good at Bolton recently and they will look to ignore any problems away from match day. Indeed finances are still a problem meaning the club are likely to need to sell before they can buy. With that in mind, survival has to be the main goal this season. Parkinson has a tall order but will know he can deliver as he is able to firmly get the best out of his players. Bolton have certainly looked reasonable enough in pre-season to suggest they could start the season well.

Target

Parkinson will want more but survival is the main target.
