Leeds will consider last season as one of what might have been. After an initial slow start, Garry Monk really developed stability to a club badly in need of it. Leeds finished 7th and were unlucky to miss out on the play-offs. Monk had been expected to lead Leeds towards a promotion push for the Premier League this term but instead opted to leave and now finds himself in charge of Middlesbrough. Leeds have made a left field appointment with Thomas Christiansen arriving. He has brought in a series of new signings that have good pedigree. Matthew Pennington arrives from Everton while Samuel Saiz is a well-thought of midfielder. Mateusz Klich is of similar ilk while Vurnon Anita has been there and done that. Leeds were somewhat short up-front last term, relying heavily on Chris Wood for goals. But they have added Ezgjan Alioski and Caleb Ekuban to provide Wood with some support. They have made Pontus Jansson's move a permanent one now which is very important given he was the heartbeat of the club last term. However Kyle Bartley's loan has not been made permanent and that is a big blow to the club. They have also lost Charlie Taylor, which was somewhat inevitable, he has joined Burnley for a tribunal fee. It appears as if Leeds are not bringing through as many youngsters now. They are also under new ownership so that should help bring a united front and if Christiansen's players can get used to his style of management, another push at the top could be possible.

Target

Leeds will feel they can make the play-offs this time around.
