Frosinone's first ever season in the Italian top flight ultimately ended in relegation but it wasn't without its fair share of good memories. Frosinone were arguably the favourites to finish rock bottom of the table after coming up as Serie B runners-up but they managed to collect 31 points and finish one place higher. It was a respectable tally considering the style of football they adopted which focused primarily on attacking under former striker, Roberto Stellone. Little attention was paid to the defensive side of the game which was ultimately Frosinone's downfall as they conceded a massive 76 goals in the league which was by far and away the highest total. Stellone, who had the great merit of bringing the canaries from Lega Pro to Serie A in two years, at the end of the season decided to leave and the club appointed former Pasquale Marino. They decided to add some experience but not to modify completely the way of playing as also the former Vicenza coach opts for a very attacking 4-3-3 system of play paying more attention to the attack than to the defense. Frosinone didn't make many changes during the summer transfer market, the most painful loss was the one of centre-back Blanchard who left after four years. As for the arrivals they signed centre-forward Cocco, looking for redemption after a disappointing season, interesting Ukrainian midfielder Churko, on loan from Shaktar, and experienced defender Brighenti. Predictable approach to the new season of the yellows who easily defeated Como in the second round of Coppa Italia, but were then defeated by Pescara.

Target

Generally the teams just relegated from Serie A are among the favorites for promotion, but it will be very difficult for Frosinone repeating the feat of two years ago. Much will depend on the impact of Marino with the team, anyway they have everything that is needed to reach the playoffs.
