The past one was a great and maybe unique season for the Sicilians who have been only one step away from promotion to the top flight...they ended the league in 3rd position and lost the playoff's final with Pescara. Although it remains a bitter taste for a goal nearly reached and vanished at the very last moment, it was the best result in the club's history. An excellent result considering the granata began the season with the goal of avoiding relegation, even if in summer there were already the first signs for a good season, an intelligent and targeted transfer-market and a very experienced and determined coach like Serse Cosmi. Very good news is that the Umbrian coach, probably the best of the league, decided to stay in Sicily. During the summer transfer campaign Trapani made some changes, but the level of the squad remained more or less the same. Two first string defenders left, Perticone and Scognamiglio, but were well replaced by two young and interesting defenders on loan from Roma, Casasola, last year at Como, and Balasa, who last season won promotion with Crotone. Given the lack of economic availability of the Sicilian club, like every year they had to focus on players on loan from Serie A teams, from Lazio came midfielder Crecco and goalkeeper Guerrieri, from Atalanta defender Kresic, and from Roma, in addition to the players mentioned above, also promising midfielder Machin. As for the first official matches of the season Trapani defeated Seregno in the Coppa Italia second round, but were then clearly defeated by Bologna.

Target

Repeating the extraordinary past season seems almost impossible, however, they have the advantage of being a solid group of players who already know the coach's tactics, they can still fight to reach the playoffs...would still be a great achievement.
