The past one was a good season for Cesena even if without the quantum leap expected...the cavallucci ended the regular season in 6th position and were quite surprisingly thrown out by Spezia in the playoffs' preliminary round played at the Manuzzi stadium. They had an excellent beginning, won most of the games also showing a brilliant football and in the first months were constantly in the first three positions, then an unexpected drop, probably due to the injuries to some key men. Coach Massimo Drago made a very good job at his first experience in an important club showing a good tactic malleability, started with his usual 4-3-3 system of play but soon switched to the 4-3-2-1, more suitable to the characteristics of his players...good news is that Drago was confirmed on the bench. As was expected during the summer transfer market the bianconeri lost some of their best players like playmaker Sensi, flown to Sassuolo, goalkeeper Gomis and midfielder Kessie respectively back to Torino and Atalanta for the end of loans. The club filled all the gaps in defense with the arrival of important players like Ligi, Balzano and Perticone, some in midfield with experienced former Vicenza Cinelli and two very interesting youngster on loan from Juventus like Schiavone and Vitale. What is still missing is probably an important forward to place alongside Djuric. Anyway they had an excellent seasonal debut reaching the fourth round of Coppa Italia where they will face Empoli.

Target

Cesena at the moment look a little weaker than last year, anyway they are one of the few teams not to have changed coach that means the squad already has a play. The minimum goal is to reach the playoffs, but the seahorses have good chances to fight for promotion.
