After only one season in the top flight Carpi are immediately back in Serie B...the dream lasted too little and they now woke up in the hard reality. However it was a very respectable effort for such a tiny and inexperienced club, they paid a very poor start and the mistake of getting rid of coach Castori too soon, only to regret about this bad decision and reappoint him...despite a very good finale, in which they fought tooth and nail with a big club like Palermo, they ended in third last place being relegated. The good news for Carpi fans is that the club decided to renew Castori's contract and to keep most of their best players. Moreover during the summer transfer market they moved wisely signing players experienced with the division like former Spezia striker Catellan, centre-forward Comi and former Frosinone centre-back Blanchard. In addition the biancorossi continued their policy of signing interesting youngsters. The most notable goodbye was the one of striker Mbakogu, crucial for promotion in the top flight, less last year. Meanwhile in the second round of Coppa Italia they got rid of Maceratese, but were then defeated 2-1 by Perugia.

Target

The obvious goal for Carpi is to go immediately back in Serie A, but it won't be that easy considering they cannot count anymore on the surprise factor and that there are better equipped teams, anyway they can count on a group of players who know each other very well and all know the tactics of the coach.
